The fam and I occasionally (okay, weekly) eat at Pei Wei Asian Diner. It’s like the fast food version of P.F. Chang’s but a lot cheaper. The thing that I like best about Pei Wei is the self-serve island in the back, which they always keep fully stocked with fortune cookies. These are some good quality cookies, too. Not those cardboard-tasting ones you get at Panda Express. Since I’m not getting a lot of suggestions from my readers (losers) of words or topics for Totally Random Friday, I (my wife) had a brilliant idea to use the words on the little slips of paper that get baked inside the cookies. I think these are called fortunes, but for me they’re more blog fodder (another funny word, btw). I collected twelve to choose from (don’t judge me), then narrowed it down to the five you see here. The story I wrote, while intoxicatingly bizarre, also has a moral. If you’re a dad, you need to read this.

Two of my friends on Twitter submitted some words for today’s TRF. Only one of them follows instructions. @mvanhoozer submitted a stub list of two words (albeit awesome words) and @phil_breedlove gave me the requested five. I’m going to take some creative license and combine the two lists. Here’s the totally random story build around these words:
